This highly complex Estate Merlot reveals generous notes of very ripe plum Créme de Cassis liquer, black cherry, fresh picked yarrow leaves and a touch of clover honey. These aromas carry over to an equally generous palate. This Bordeaux-style wine was masterfully blended with 23% Cabernnet Sauvignon in ntrue Pomerol tradition and resulted in a highly distinctive example of what a Washington Merlot can achieve. Imbued by velvety soft tannins, owing in long measure to three years of barrel maturation of three years, this is truly a reserve-style wine built for an abundantly long cellar life.
Note: Lodmell Cellars 2005 Estate Merlot won a Diamond of the Decade Award in 2015 - this was the the 10th anniversary “new award “ category, introduced by the Seattle Wine Awards in honor of their 10th anniversary. Expect the same excellence from the 2009 vintage.
